About the Liberal Democrats

You can go straight to the Liberal Democrat Membership Form

The Liberal Democrats are the party at the centre of British politics. We stand for freedom and social justice, for the rule of law and accountable government, for strong national leadership and real local involvement, for intelligent policy making, and for being honest about what our policies really cost. We are internationalists, thinking globally while acting locally. We stand for respect, for the environment, for fairer taxation, and for true democracy.

Although we have a professional team at our Westminster office in Cowley Street, and paid staff supporting our MPs and council groups, the vast majority of Liberal Democrats are unpaid volunteers, ordinary members working to do an extraordinary thing: to change the political landscape of Britain.

If you believe the same things that we do, we would invite you to join us. The cost is not great. The rewards are tremendous. The impact is beyond calculation.
